21st Century Woman is our annual flagship event for aspiring and seasoned female leaders. The event is a gathering of driven, ambitious women who are looking to take their careers or businesses to the next level. We explore all aspects of leadership and entrepreneurship for the modern woman through seasoned speakers, engaging panel sessions, breakout sessions, and a range of networking opportunities.
The event also hosts a marketplace of exhibition stalls that will allow women-owned and women-targeting brands to showcase their products and services to our community.

Thokozile is a banking professional with a love for African development. Thokozile has coined the term Change Convener ® as it encompasses her speaking engagements. Thokozile is passionate about unpacking issues and topics that seek to positively impact the African socio-economic landscape. Some of these relate to entrepreneurship, economic growth, leadership, women’s economic participation and freedom, and social equity.
Prof. Mamokgethi Phakeng – Keynote Speaker
“The most influential woman academic in Africa” CEO Magazine, Forbes 50 Most Powerful Women in Africa.
Professor Mamokgethi Phakeng is the former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Cape Town. She holds a PhD in Mathematics Education from the University of the Witwatersrand and is one of the leading scholars in mathematics education globally. She has been invited to deliver over 60 keynote/plenary talks at international conferences, and as a visiting professor in universities around the world. She serves as a member of high-profile international boards: The Geneva Science and Diplomacy Anticipator (GESDA) and the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy for Girls (OWLAG). She is trustee of the South African Student Solidarity Foundation for Education (SASSFE) and was a member of the FirstRand Foundation till December 2021.
Deputy Mother, as she is affectionately referred to by thousands of young people across the African continent, is an academic with a sharp social conscience and a philanthropist who, among other initiatives, founded the Adopt-alearner Foundation.

- The three shortlisted businesses owners will pitch their business at 21st Century Woman and the winner will be announced at the 21st Century Woman event on 3rd September 2023.

- Mustard Seed’s decision is final, and no correspondence will be entered into.
- The prize is non-negotiable and non-transferable and may not be exchanged for cash.
